Supervision
"The earlier children are considered as adults, the earlier they become adults"
Edmond DEMOLINS, the Ecole des Roches founder.
Accommodation
More than a boarding school... nine houses representing our prestigious heritage.
Unlike other schools, The "Rocheux" are divided within houses according to their age and sex. The Ecole des Roches insists on creating a home-like atmosphere within spacious houses accommodating 20 to 45 teenagers in each.
Working areas, supervised study areas, a television room, a meeting room, a kitchen to prepare snacks, a library, telephone booths and one or two computers connected to the internet... all these elements illustrate the relaxing and stimulating environment which distinguishes our houses. Conviviality is our motto (bedrooms with 2 to 6 beds).
Each house has its own tradition (Christmas parties, treasure hunts, games "amis invisibles").
The House Masters
Since the creation of the school in 1899, House Masters have an essential educational role. They work closely with the educational team and parents and insist on creating a family-like atmosphere within their houses.
Their mission can be summarised as follow :
- To supervise and stimulate school work
- To create a warm and friendly environment within houses
- To diffuse essential values

The Captains
Taking on collective or individual responsibilities, respecting the others, considering free time as an opportunity to open up without excess... all these values are essential for teenagers to learn how to take initiatives and to achieve maturity.
Constraints do not exist in our school. Our community rules and our school charter must be respected but the students themselves guarantee their implementation. For further information on Captains

Our community rules
When entering the Ecole des Roches, students commit themselves by accepting our community rules.
Our community rules insist on our essential traditional values such as :
friendliness, work, tolerance, politeness, sharing and respect. These community rules have been defined and written by students themselves !!!
Hygiene, punctuality, coeducation, environmental issues, security and suitable clothing are also mentioned, along with unacceptable attitudes (drugs, alcohol, violence, theft, use of weapons…).
The pedagogical team will immediately punish students who adopt such a behaviour , with temporary or definitive exclusion.
